The Phi Kappa Literary Society is a debate society at the University of Georgia. We meet every academic Thursday at Phi Kappa Hall on North Campus at 7 p.m.

All with an insatiable appetite for knowledge and oratory are welcome.

on Books

Kicking off it’s 191st year, the Phi Kappa Literary society is excited to announce our first post-birthday debate topic. This Thursday in Phi Kappa hall, we will be debating the issue of whether or not books should be allowed to be banned by governments. The meeting will start at 7:00pm and the debate will begin before 8:00pm. The resolution will be presented by Sister Kristen Foxworth.

Resolution and Definitions:

BIHR: Books deemed unsuitable by the government ought to be banned in public schools and libraries.

Books will be defined as printed works of fiction or nonfiction, excluding reference books such as dictionaries and thesauruses.

Unsuitable will be defined as inappropriate in regards to age and content.

Banned will be defined as prohibited.
